Am I Nima Answers: Demo Word Combinations and Tips
What players have mapped for Am I Nima's word-combination answers in the demo, how the answer system works, and what the full game changes.

Table of Contents
In Am I Nima there is no answer sheet to memorise. The "answers" are words you build inside Nima's head and then drag down to her mouth during her mother's tests, so a good answer is usually the pairing that unlocks the memory Mom is fishing for. Players have mapped part of that web for the Steam demo, and the rest of the page is what that mapping actually looks like — plus the one thing worth knowing before you hunt for a "correct" ending: the demo finishes the same way no matter what you say.
How answers work in the demo
You begin with two words, Nima and Stranger, and everything else comes from clicking objects in the basement and in Nima's bedroom. Inspecting a lava lamp, a shark plush, a fossil or a school trophy adds words to a library; combining two library words on the right side of the screen produces a new idea, and that idea becomes a dialogue option you can offer Mom.
The library is organised with tabs — Adventure Game Hotspot describes Relationships, Nature and Life and Death as the categories used to keep the list manageable — and not every pairing is allowed. Trying to combine two words the game has no result for simply fails, which is the main reason people get stuck: a refused pairing is information, not a bug.

Reported demo pairings
These come from a single demo playthrough, so treat them as one player's notes on the demo build rather than a complete list. The full game's word pool is much larger and pairings may not carry over unchanged.
| Pairing | Result |
|---|---|
| hungry + mom | science |
| memory + mom | grief |
| mom + envy | forgiveness |
| Nima + bully | sad |
| mom + forgotten | responsibility |
| stranger + hungry | refused |
| mom + bully | refused |
The same playthrough shows the bedroom filling in a lot of the vocabulary — fossil, trapped, water, penguin, knowledge, guilt, friend, plush, aquarium and happy all turn up from objects there. A written demo report also lists corpse, parasite, hubris, god and autopsy among its unlocks, which fits the game's habit of hiding its nastier ideas behind ordinary bedroom clutter.
Two spots people get stuck on
The congee question. In the first conversation, the game nudges you away from strong words: "disgust" is rejected as too much, and plain food is accepted. Answers that pry at the accident — swimming, the river, drowning — get Mom's rehearsed story back ("you were in a coma"), which is the point rather than a failure.
The old locker. One player opened Nima's old locker by entering pond; lake and a swim-related guess both failed. That solve is demo-specific and worth re-testing if the full game changes the room.
The fossil. According to the same demo write-up, no matter which word you choose for the fossilized rock, the exchange puts you in conflict with Annabelle. So there is no safe answer there in the demo — the argument and the night that follows are the scripted outcome. A Steam Community thread on the game's hub asks whether the Life/Fossil chapter can be finished without the lobotomy and whether anyone has cracked the safe, which suggests players were still trading notes rather than working from a published key. HO! Games has not posted an answer key or combination list on that hub as of 2026-10-18.

The demo ending is not a puzzle
A player in the video "diy lobotomy! // am i nima" reports that the developer confirmed the demo always ends with Mom's lobotomy, with only small extra flashes available for players who keep combining words. That matches the Let's Play write-up, which reaches the same scene after the fossil argument. So treat the demo as a sample of the system, not a branch you can talk your way out of.
What the full game changes
The developer's September 2026 update on the Steam Community hub puts the full release at over 230 unique words (excluding the "Tomato Boy" set) and over 5,000 combinations, across 5 environments and more than 300 inspectable objects. It also lists over 15 tests in 5 chapters, 7 additional optional tests, 150+ main and 600+ optional dialogue choices, and 13 endings — with the demo covering Chapter 1 and half of Chapter 2. Three quality-of-life features matter for answer-hunting: a favouriting system for saving words, an Available Choices filter that shows which words work as dialogue during a test, and a Word History screen showing your last 20 combinations.
The same update moved the release from October 8th, 2026 to November 27th, 2026; the earlier date appears in Adventure Game Hotspot's August 2026 preview, which also names Windows and Mac as the launch platforms. The Steam store page is the place to check before you plan around either date.
Practical tips
- Inspect everything before you talk. Words are the currency, and a room you skim is a conversation you can't finish.
- When a pairing refuses, try an emotional word instead of a literal one — grief, guilt and sad all exist, and Mom reacts to feelings more than facts.
- Read the secondary text. Nima's private thoughts contradict what she says out loud, and they often hint at which answer Mom wants to hear versus which one is true.
- Don't assume the confrontation is a fail state in the demo. Pushing Mom's buttons is how the story moves; the consequences are scripted.
- If the word list feels unmanageable in the demo, that is exactly what the full game's filter and favourites are for — but those tools are announced for release, not present in the demo build.
